The American Boatbuilders & Repairers Association is pleased to announce the presentation of its Boatyard of the Year (2020) award to KKMI Sausalito at its annual conference held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida last week. Due to COVID19 restrictions, ABBRA had not been able to make this presentation in-person until last week.

On hand to receive the award was founding KKMI partner, Paul Kaplan. “On behalf of the team at KKMI we are honored to be recognized by ABBRA, the only association dedicated to boat service yards, for our efforts in Sausalito,” he said. “Our boatyard in Sausalito is truly a one-of-kind facility due to the significant improvements we made in its creation and continue to this day.”

Over the past quarter century KKMI has been recognized for its leadership in many areas, from within the maritime industry and beyond. With ABBRA naming KKMI’s Sausalito location “Boatyard of the Year”, KKMI becomes the only company to achieve this prestigious award in Northern California not only once, but twice!

KKMI Pt Richmond has been providing boat maintenance and repair services on San Francisco Bay since 1996. They added their Sausalito location in 2009 and along with their landlord, Clipper Yacht Harbor, they set about to create an environmentally conscientious location. Upgrades included state-of-the-art filtration systems for storm and process water that passes through the yard and construction of a perimeter wall that prevents rising seawater from infiltrating the yard, hence keeping all water in the yard self-contained. KKMI strives to meet the high standards set forth by local and state regulators to protect our Bay. KKMI is proud to be a strong environmental steward and is extremely honored to be recognized by ABBRA for this award.
