Member News: Petzolds Marine Center Celebrates 70th Anniversary

This year Petzold’s Marine Center, in Portland Connecticut, is celebrating its 70th anniversary. A business started in 1945 by Bill and Agnes Petzold, selling outboard motors and small rowboats out of their home’s basement, Petzold’s has grown to become one of the most respected yacht sales and service centers in the Northeast. A dealer for such boat lines as Regal, Edgewater, Back Cove and Sabre. Petzold’s has one of the largest heated showrooms in New England, with models up to 50 feet on display. They also provide a wide range of services, including seasonal commissioning and decommissioning, engine repair, repowering, custom canvas, electrical installation and more.

“We’re proud of this anniversary,” says Petzold’s Marine Center President Robert Petzold. “Being in business for 70 years is due to more than just selling great boats. It’s about customer service and the relationships we’ve built with boaters. This would not be possible without our great employees. We look forward to continuing for years to come.”

To mark their 70th anniversary, Petzold’s will host a Mardi Gras-themed open house on Saturday, March 21st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, March 22nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On hand will be over 70 new and preowned boats to view, including new boats from Sabre, Regal, Back Cove and Edgewater. There will be door prizes, vendors, refreshments and extra savings in the areas largest discount marine store.
