Fort Lauderdale, FL_ September 8, 2014 –The American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA), the national marine industry trade group of boatyards, boat builders and product supply and service companies is offering its Marine Equipment Operator Training (MEOT) for forklift and straddlelift operators on September 29th as one of the IBEX 2014 Super Sessions. The classroom safety training seminars will be offered as two separate 4-hour classes in the morning and in the afternoon, starting at 8am and 1pm respectively.
MEOT training addresses such classroom topics as OSHA requirements, operator responsibilities, accident prevention, equipment inspection, boat-lifting and -blocking standards, job-site safety, lift planning, supervisor awareness, and rigging considerations and is taught by Dennis Morgan, CEO and Senior Instructor at Universal Safety Training on behalf of ABBRA. Executive Director of ABBRA Gordon Connell says interest has been strong because many attendees to IBEX see this as a chance to receive needed training while attending one of the industry’s leading exhibit trade shows. “ABBRA has been a part of IBEX since its inception and we’re very pleased to be offering our safety training seminars, our Boatyard Study Tour and business topics seminars this year. We have a lot happening and look forward to positive response to the programs,” said Connell.
Course instructor Dennis Morgan is a federally certified OSHA instructor with more than 30-years of experience in the construction and maritime industries. He offers a wealth of knowledge and experience in both forklift and straddlelift safety with a focus on ensuring operators are fully prepared with the information needed to ensure their safety, the safety of others, and an accident free workplace.
